Y-Work is a pilot project that assists young people living in aged care by fostering meaningful employment opportunities suitable to their skills & needs. The Y-House Foundation Inc. was awarded an Economic Participation grant from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) in 2020 to pilot this exciting new program which has allowed us to implement this proof of concept.
With nearly 5,500 young Australians already living in aged care and another 50 entering aged care facilities every week, it is paramount that action is taken to keep young people engaged in their communities.
The Y-Work program team works closely with young people living in aged care who are seeking employment to assess their skills and goals for work. Whilst also working with employers to foster equal opportunities and reduce barriers to accessing meaningful employment for those we work with.
